‘Deal with it like an adult’: Entitled mom refuses neighbor's demands to keep her kids quiet in the mornings, neighbor gets even by mowing their lawn at 6 AM, other residents get invovled

When we were kids, living in a neighborhood filled with other kids was the best thing in the world. Every day after school we will all meet up outside, and spend the entire afternoon playing games and hanging out. Even on the weekends, we were always together, either at someone's house, or creating havoc outside. 

We're not sure what our parents thought of that, but surely they enjoyed the moments of peace they got when we weren't around the house to annoy them.

However, we're adults now, and if you don't have kids of your own, living in a neighborhood filled with kids actually turns out to be annoying. Seriously, who wants to be awakened at 7 AM on the weekend to the sound of the neighbor's kids loudly playing outside? Kids are so loud, and there's not much you can do about it. You usually either have to deal with it, appeal to the parents and hope they will rein in their kids, or get really petty.

  • Being good neighbors requires more than just following the rules. Even if technically kids are allowed to be loud at 7 AM, it's still not a very neighborly thing to allow it to happen. 

    So we understand the neighbor's frustration.

    Does that justify their petty actions when they started mowing their lawn at 6 AM, possibly disturbing the other residents?

    stagecaffeine i'm assuming you have other neighbors that can hear the yard work, but are quiet themselves. they now have to deal with your noise even though you are trying to annoy someone else

    Next time, mow at 9pm when her kids are sleeping but most adults are still awake. Maybe the exhausted kids will sleep later the next morning.
